But the first Manse was the first real home and I can very well picture it from Mother’s vivid description. Just as every bride thinks there is no home like hers so too Mother would talk of where she placed her wedding presents. There too were born her two boys Fred & Donald. Rev F.E.Harte tells in his book “The Road I have Travelled” of how he was a Home Mission Deputation to Swanlinbar & staying in the Manse on the night that the first little son was born! He also says “he was called after me”. His name was Frederick Edward, but Grandfather’s name was also Edward.
